Esker’s vision is global in scope; it aims to build a significant presence in the cultural life of diverse audiences, from the local to the international, through a program that is outstanding, germane and engaging. Esker develops diverse exhibitions that champion experimentation and development in artistic and curatorial practice, including the commission of new works. It also encourages partnerships and collaborations with organizations and other cultural institutions that foster the growth of cultural communities in Canada as well as internationally.

The Foundation has a global vision and a key aim to support international activity through their programs. Naomi Potter has previously worked with arts centres with strong international foci, including Walter Phillips Gallery, The Banff Centre; and CESTA: International Arts Centre, Czech Republic. She has a record of developing exhibitions and projects that engage a range of contemporary practices and critical discourses, as well as a history of embracing contemporary indigenous cultures in her curatorial practice while engageing with provincial cities and art centres. Potter has a clear understanding of the benefit and strengths of building reciprocity in personal and institutional relationships, and an interest in new world cultures, and in particular for the capacity of contemporary Australian culture to both reflect and to bring into relief aspects of Canadian culture, across artistic, political and social spheres.

A Conversation with Naomi Potter is a partnership event between the Queen Victoria Museum & Art Gallery and Contemporary Art Tasmania. Naomi Potter is in Australia as part of Contemporary Art Tasmania’s Visiting Curator program, which has been generously supported by the Australia Council.
